East Winch, Norfolk

Description
Winch, East, a parish, with a village, in Norfolk, with a station on the G.E.R., 5 miles SE by E of Lynn. It has a post, moaey order, and telegraph office under Lynn. Acreage, 2451; population, 367. There is a parish council consisting of seven members. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Norwich; net value, £160. The church is an ancient building of flint and stone in the Perpendicular style, and contains some handsome monuments and memorials. There is to be seen the site of a moated residence of Sir William Howard, an ancestor of the Dukes of Norfolk who died in 1309.
