Coltishall, Norfolk

Description
Coltishall, a large and important parish in Norfolk, on the river Bure, with a station on the G.E.R., 7 miles NE of Norwich. It has a post, money order, and telegraph office under Norwich, a fair on Whit-Monday, and a considerable trade in mailing, corn, and coal. There are also some extensive lime works. Acreage, 1190; population, 893. The living is a rectory, consolidated in 1880 with that of Great Hautbois, in the diocese of Norwich; joint value, £553 with residence. The church is a building of flint in the Early English style, with an embattled western tower. There are two chapels belonging to the United Methodists and Wesleyans. Coltishall and Great Hautbois are united for ecclesiastical and school-board purposes, but are separate in other respects.
