Brettenham, Norfolk

Brettenham, a village and a parish in Norfolk, on the Roman Peddar-way and the Little Ouse river, 4 miles E from Thetford station on the G.E.R. Post town, Thetford, which is the money order and telegraph office. Acreage of the civil parish, 2006; population, 103; of the ecclesiastical, with Rushford, 292. The living is a rectory, consolidated with the adjoining benefice of Rushford, in the diocese of Norwich; net value, £236. The ancient church was burnt in 1693. The present church is a small quadrangular structure with square tower.
