Barningham-Town, Barningham-Winter, Barningham-Magna or Barningham-Great, a parish in Norfolk, 4 miles SE of Holt station on the Eastern & Midlands railway. Norwich is the post town; money order and telegraph office, Aldborough. Acreage, 871; population, 105. Barningham Hall is a fine Tudor mansion situated in an extensive park. A market and a fair were formerly held in the parish, under grant of Edward II. to Roger Ie Curzam. The living i< a rectory in the diocese of Norwich; net value, £86 with residence. The tower of the church is a very picturesque ruin; the old chancel is now the church, and lias been well restored. A part of Bessingham was united with this parish in 1884, under the Divided Parishes Act.
