Description
Halton, West, a village, a township, and a parish in Lincolnshire. The village stands in a vale near the Hnmber, 2 1/2 miles NW from Winterton, and about 7 NW from the Apple-by and Frodingham stations on the M.S. & L.R. There is a post and money order office under Doncaster; telegraph office, Whitton. Acreage of Halton West, 1979; population, 235. The manor belongs to the Ecclesiastical Commissioners. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lincoln; net yearly value, £320 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Norwich. The church was built in 1695, is in the Pointed style, and consists of nave and chancel, with a tower. There are a Primitive Methodist chapel and some small charities.
