Walesby, a parish, with a village, in Lincolnshire, 2 1/2 miles NE of Market Rasen station on the M.S. & L.R. It has a post office under Market Rasen; money order and telegraph office, Market Rasen. Acreage, 3695; population, 305. There is a parish council consisting of seven members. The manor belongs to the Angerstein family. The living is a rectory, with Risby annexed, in the diocese of Lincoln; net value, £454 with residence. An iron church has been erected in the village until the restoration or rebuilding on a new site of the parish church. There is a building used as a Wesleyan chapel. In 1861 the remains of a Roman villa were discovered in this parish.
