Description
Tothill, a parish in Lincolnshire, 1 1/2 mile ENE of Authorpe station on the G.N.R., and 4 1/2 miles NNW of Alford. Post town, Alford. Acreage, 891; population, 59. The manor belongs to Lord Willoughby de Broke. Near the manor house is a military earthwork consisting of a wide deep ditch about 70 yards in length near a lofty round mound commonly called Toot Hill, from which the parish derived its name. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lincoln; net value, £150 with residence. Patron, Lord Willoughby de Broke. The church is a small plain edifice of stone and brick, rebuilt in 1777, and restored in 1894.
