Description
Stubton, a small village and a parish in Lincolnshire, 1 mile ESE of Claypole station on the main line of the G.N.R., and 6 miles SE from Newark. Post town and money order office, Newark; telegraph office, Claypole (R.S.) Acreage, 1177; population, 127. The manor, with Stubton Hall, a fine modern mansion of stone standing amidst beautiful grounds, belongs to the Nevile family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lincoln; net value, £221 with residence. The church was rebuilt in 1800, and the chancel was added in 1869. It is a small edifice of stone, chiefly in the Gothic style.
