Ranby, Lincolnshire

Description
Ranby, a parish in Lincolnshire, on the river Barn, 7 miles NNW of Horncastle, and 2 1/2 S from Donington station on the Louth and Lincoln branch of the G.N.R. It has a post office under Lincoln; money order office, Scamblesby; telegraph office, Baimber. Acreage, 1291; population, 140. The manor, with Ranby Hall, and all the land belong to the Otter family. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Lincoln; net value, £87. The church was rebuilt in 1839 and restored in 1860, and is a building of stone chiefly in the Early Decorated style.
