Description
Osbournby, a village and a parish in Lincolnshire. The village stands near the Sleaford and Bourn branch of the G.N.R., 2 miles SW of Aswarby station, 3 N of Folkingham, and 5 1/2 S of Sleaford. It is a neat place, and has a post,. money order, and telegraph office under Folkingham. The parish comprises 1471 acres; population, 419. Under the Local Government Act of 1894 there is a parish council consisting of five members. The manor belongs to the Whichcote family, who own part of the village, the greater part of which is the property of the Burghley family. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Lincoln; gross value, £250 with residence. Patrons, Hulme's Trustees. The church is an ancient building of the Early English, Late Decorated, and Perpendicular periods, in good condition y consists of nave, aisles, and chancel, with a tower; and contains a Norman font and some richly carved seats. There is a Wesleyan chapel.
