Carlby, a parish in Lincolnshire, on the river Glen and the G.N.R., 1 mile from Essendine station on the G.N.R., and 5 miles NNE of Stamford, which is the post town; money order office, Essendine; telegraph office, Essendine railway station. Acreage, 1433; population, 149. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lincoln; gross yearly value, £283 with residence. The church is an ancient edifice of stone in the Early English style.
