Wartnaby, a township and a parish formed out of Rothley parish, Leicestershire, 4 miles NW of Melton-Mowbray, and 1 1/4 NE from Grimston station on the Melton Mowbray and Nottingham section of the M. R. Post town, Melton Mowbray; money order office, Melton Mowbray; telegraph office, Grimston (R.S.) Acreage, 749; population of the civil parish, 103; of the ecclesiastical, with Grimston, 286. The manor belongs to the Bingham family. Wartnaby Hall is an ivy-clad mansion of brick, standing in its own grounds. Ironstone is found. The living is a vicarage annexed to that of Grimston in the diocese of Peterborough; joint net value, £107 in the gift of the Vicar of Rothby. The church is a small building of stone in the Gothic style.
