Saxelby, a small village and a parish, situated among the Wold Hills, in Leicestershire, 4 miles WNW of Melton Mowbray, with a station, called Grimston, on the Melton Mowbray and Nottingham branch of the M.R. Post town and money order office, Melton Mowbray; telegraph office, Grimston station. Acreage, 1052; population, 98. The manor, with all the land except the glebe, belongs to the Wright family. Saxelby Park, their seat, is a modern mansion of brick. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough; gross value, £137 with residence. The church is an ancient building of stone in the Early English style, consisting of chancel, nave, S aisle, S porch, and an embattled western tower with spire.
