Kilby, a parish, with a village, in Leicestershire, on a branch of the river Soar, and on the Union Canal, 2 1/4 miles from Glen station on the M.R., and 63- SSE of Leicester. It has a post office under Leicester; money order office, Countes-thorpe; telegraph office, Glen railway station. Acreage, 1068; population of the civil parish, 242; of the ecclesiastical, with Wistow and Newton Harcourt, 445. The living is a vicarage, with that of Wistow and Newton Harcourt annexed, in the diocese of Peterborough; net yearly value, , £160. The church is a plain modern building of stone in the Early English style, and there is a small Congregational chapel.
