Description
Goadby Marwood, a parish in Leicestershire, 6 miles NNE of Melton-Mowbray, and 2 NE from Scalford station on the G.N. & L. & N.W. Joint railway. It has a post office under Melton-Mowbray; money order and telegraph office, Waltham. Acreage, 1650; population, 155. The manor belongs to the Duke of Rutland. The Hall is a handsome mansion. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough ; net yearly value, £300 with residence. The church was built about 1280; is of stone in the Early English, Decorated, and Perpendicular styles; and has a pinnacled tower, an ancient font, and the tomb of Peck the antiquary, who was rector.
