Whittington, a parish, with a village, in Lancashire, 2 miles SW of Kirkby Lonsdale station on the L. & N.W.R. It has a post office under Kirkby Lonsdale; money order and telegraph office, Kirkby Lonsdale. The parish comprises Docker and Newton. Acreage, 4416; population, 349. Whittington Hall is the chief residence. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Manchester; net value, £280 with residence. The church is in the Perpendicular style, and consists of chancel, nave, aisles, and western tower. There is an endowed school.
