Description
Euxton, a village, a township, and a parish in Lancashire, with stations on the L. & Y.R. and L. & N.W.R., near the river Yarrow, 2 miles NW by W of Chorley, and a post and money order office under Chorley; telegraph office, Euxton Junction (R. S.). Acreage, 2934; population, 1167. Euxton Hall, an old mansion standing in a fine park, is a chief residence. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Manchester; gross value, £180 with residence. The church is ancient, in tolerable condition, and has a Norman font. There are a Wesleyan chapel, a Roman Catholic church erected in 1864-65, with cemetery attached, an endowed school with £47, a Roman Catholic school, and charities.
