Description
Cliviger, a township forming with the village of Holme-an ecclesiastical parish in Burnley district, Lancashire, with two stations on the L. & Y.R., one at Holme and the other at Portsmouth, near the source of the river Irwell, 3 1/4 miles. SE by S of Burnley. It has a post office at Walk Mill under Burnley; money order and telegraph office, Burnley. Acreage, 6727 ; population, 2121, including the part in the administrative county of York, W. R. The surface is hilly,-the rocks include coal, iron ore, and lead ore, and many Roman coins and torques have been found here.
