Hoo, a village and a parish in Suffolk, on the river Deben, 4 miles SW from Framlingham station on the G.E.R., and 4 NW from Wickham Market. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Wickham Market. Acreage, 1217; population, 182; of the united ecclesiastical parish, 389. The manor belongs to the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon. The living is a vicarage, united with the vicarage of Lether-ingham, in the diocese of Norwich; joint gross value, £107. The church is a building of brick in the Perpendicular style.
