Whitchurch, Herefordshire

Description
Whitchurch, a village and a parish in Herefordshire. The village stands on the river Wye, 1 1/2 mile NW of Symonds Yat station on the Monmouth and Ross branch of the G.W.R., and 4 miles NE of Monmouth. It has a post and money order office under Ross; telegraph office, Symonds Yat railway station. The parish comprises 2191 acres; population of the civil parish, 684; of the ecclesiastical, 645. The scenery is very picturesque, and there is good fishing. Sellarsbrooke is the chief residence. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Hereford; net value, £258 with residence. The church is ancient, and has been restored. There are Congregational and Primitive Methodist chapels.
