Hampton Bishop, a village, a township, and a parish in Herefordshire. The village stands between the rivers Wye and Lugg, 3 1/2 miles SE by E of Hereford, and has a post office under Hereford; money order and telegraph office, Hereford. Acreage of township, 2072; population, 340. The parish includes the township of Tupsley. Acreage, 2884; population, 1461; of the ecclesiastical parish, 302. Tupsley forms a separate ecclesiastical parish. Some of the inhabitants are employed in making baskets and sieves. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Hereford; net value, c£200 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Hereford. The church is ancient, and was restored in 1878.
