Description
Cusop, a parish in Herefordshire, at the boundary with Brecon, 1 mile ESE of Hay. Post town, Hay (R.S.O.) Acreage, 2294; population, 294. The scenery is very beautiful and mountainous, the hills rising to an altitude of 1500 and 2000 feet. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Hereford; value, £190. The church, dedicated to St Mary the Virgin, is an exceedingly old specimen of earliest Norman, seen in the chancel arch, but has had lance windows inserted in the nave, and an Early Geometric east window in the chancel. The font is also a very early specimen of the Norman, and circular in shape.
