Description
Brilley St Mary, a parish in Herefordshire, on the verge of the county, near the river Wye, 1 1/2 mile NW of Whitney-on-the-Wye station on the Swansea, Brecon, and Hereford branch of the M.R., and 5 1/2 miles NNE of Hay. Post town, Whitney (R.S.O.); money order and telegraph office, Hay. Acreage, 3926; population, 390. The living is a vicarage, united with the rectory of Michaelchurch in Radnorshire, in the diocese of Hereford; gross value, £268 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Worcester. The church is ancient, and was restored in 1862. There is a Calvinistic Methodist chapel and a meeting-house.
