Description
Hill, a village and a parish in Gloucestershire, on the Severn, 4 miles N of Thombury. The village has a post office under Falfield (R.S.O.); money order and telegraph office, Falfield. The parish comprises 2053 acres; population, 214. Hill Court, supposed to occupy the site of a nunnery of the 12th century, belongs to the Fust family. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol; net value, £140 with residence. The church is Early English, and has a mortuary chapel containing monuments of the Fust family. It is well fitted with handsome oak benches of the 14th century, in good preservation.
