Elkstone, a parish in Gloucestershire, near Ermine Street, 5 miles S of Charlton Kings station on the G.W.R., 7 S of Cheltenham, and 8 NW of Cirencester. It has a post office under Cheltenham; money order office, Charlton Kings; telegraph office, Birdlip. Acreage, 2116; population, 199. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol; net value, £283 with residence. The church is partly Norman and partly Early English, with Perpendicular additions. The Norman chancel is only 12 feet high, and "the east window is a very fine example of Norman work. There is also a remarkably fine tower.
