Description
Compton-Greenfield, a parish in Gloucestershire, near the estuary of the Severn, 6 1/2 miles NNW of Bristol, and 2 S of Pilning station on the Bristol and South Wales branch of the G.W.R. Post town, Westbury-on-Trym, under Bristol ; money order and telegraph office, Henbury. Hollywood Tower is the chief residence. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol; gross value, £192 with residence. The church was mainly rebuilt in 1852, and is in the Early English style, but has a fine Norman doorway, and an ancient, embattled, ivy-clad tower.
