Ulting, a parish in Essex, on the river Chelmer, 2 miles W from Langford station on the Maldon branch of the G.E.R., and 2 1/4 S from Hatfield Peverel station on the G.E.R. main line. It has a post office under Maldon; money order and telegraph office, Hatfield Peverel. Acreage, 1034; population of the civil parish, 165; of the ecclesiastical, 139. The manor belongs to the baronet family of Pechell. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of St Albans; net value, £94 with residence. Patron, Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. The church is ancient in the Early English style, consisting of chancel, nave, N porch, and a western turret of wood.
