Description
Hawkwell, Hawkswell, or Hackwell, a village and a parish in Essex, 2 miles NW from Rochford station on the G.E.R., and 6 NW from Southend. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Rochford (S.O.) Acreage, 1365; population, 300. The living is a rectory in the diocese of St Albans; gross yearly value, £308. The church, a building of stone in the Perpendicular style, was restored in 1877.
