Elsenham, Essex

Description
Elsenham, a village and a parish in Essex. The village stands 5 miles NE by N of Bishop Stortford, and has a station on the G.E.R. It has a post, money order, and telegraph office under Bishop's Stortford. The parish comprises 1852 acres; population, 423. Elsenham Hall is a chief residence. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of St Albaus; net value, £136 with residence. The church is a building of Early Norman date, and there is a Friends mission hall. The liighest point of the G.E.R. between London and Cambridge is a few yards distant from the village, and is said to be on a level with the dome of St Paul's Cathedral.
