Description
Pentridge, a parish in Dorsetshire, on Bockerly Ditch, adjacent to Wilts, 3 1/4 miles NNW of Cranborne, and 7 from Verwood station on the L. & S.W.R. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Cranborne. The manor belongs to the Earl of Shaftesbury. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Salisbury; net value, £130 with residence. Patron, The Lord Chancellor. The church was rebuilt in 1857.
Parish Church
The church of St. Rumbold, a small Middle Pointed structure of flint and stone, was enlarged and partly rebuilt in 1857, and consists of chancel, nave, south porch and a western tower, with spire, containing 4 bells: there are stained windows, and sittings for 100.
The register dates from the year 1704.
