Folke, a parish in Dorsetshire, 3 miles SSE of Sherborne town and station on the L. & S.W.R. It includes the hamlet of Alweston. Post town, Alweston under Sherborne. Acreage, 2120; population of the civil parish, 370 ; of the ecclesiastical, 327. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Salisbury ; value, £195 with residence. Patrons, the Dean and Chapter of Salisbury and the Allford family alternately. The church was well restored in 1875.

Parish Church
The church of St. Laurence is a building of stone in the Jacobean style, and consists of chancel, nave, aisles, built in 1628, south porch and an embattled western tower of earlier date, with pinnacles, and containing 5 bells: the church was restored in 1875 at a cost of upward of £1,000, and affords sittings for 200 persons.

The register dates from the year 1538.
