Whitestone, a parish, with a scattered village, in Devonshire, 4 miles W of Exeter station on the G.W.R. It has a post office under Exeter; money order and telegraph office, St Thomas. Acreage, 4935; population of the civil parish, 494; of the ecclesiastical, 445. There is a parish council consisting of seven members. The civil parish includes the chapelry of Oldridge. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Exeter; net value, £425 with residence, in the gift of Emmanuel College, Cambridge. The church is an ancient building of stone in the Gothic style, and was restored in 1887, There are an endowed school, a Wesleyan chapel, and charities.
