Description
George Nympton, Nympton St George, or Nymet St George, a parish in Devonshire, on the river Mole, 2 miles S of South Molton station on the G.W.R. Post town and money order and telegraph office, South Molton. Acreage, 1706 ; population, 198. The manor belongs to Sir T. D. Acland, Bart. The living is a,rectory in the diocese of Exeter; net value, £245 with residence. Patron, Sir T. D. Acland, Bart. The church consists of nave, chancel, and N aisle, with low brick tower, and contains monuments of the Karslakes and the Gays; it was restored in 1882. There is a Bible Christian chapel. A cattle fair is held yearly on the first Wednesday after 1 July.
