Christow or Cristow, a parish in Devonshire. The parish lies on the river Teign, 4 1/4 miles NNW of Chudleigh, and 1 mile from Ashton station on the G.W.R. It has a post office under Exeter; money order office, Dunsford; telegraph office, Chudleigh. Acreage, 3263; population, 567. The manor, with Canonteign House, belongs to Viscount Exmouth. The scenery is highly picturesque. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Exeter; net value, £152 with residence. Patron, Viscount Exmouth. The church is ancient, and contains the ashes of the great Admiral Exmouth. There are a small Baptist chapel and charities.
