Holmesfield, a township and an ecclesiastical parish in Derbyshire, 2 miles W of Dronfield station on the M.R., and 6 1/2 NW of Chesterfield. There is a post office under Sheffield; money order and telegraph office, Totley. Acreage, 4699; population, 500. The Duke of Rutland is lord of the manor. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Southwell; net value, £112 with residence. The church was built on the site of a previous one in 1826. There are a Wesleyan chapel, an endowed national school, and some charities.
