Glapwell, a township in Bolsover parish, Derbyshire, 5 1/4miles NW of Mansfield, and 1 1/4 mile from Pleasley station <£n the M.R. It has a post office under Chesterfield; money order and telegraph office, Heath. Acreage, 774; population, 86. The Duke of Portland is lord of the manor. Glap-well Hall is the seat of the Hallowes family. There was once a chapel here, under Darling Abbey.
