Description
Thurstaston, a township and a parish in Cheshire. The township lies on the estuary of the Dee, 5 miles NW of Great Neston, and 7 SW of Birkenhead. It lias a station on the L. & N.W. and L. & S.W. Joint railway. Post town, Birkenhead; telegraph office, at the railway station. Acreage, 940 of land and 2 of water, with 428 of adjacent tidal water and 1141 of foreshore; population, 145. The ecclesiastical parish includes parts of Irby, Greasby, and Caldy townships. Population, 225. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Chester; gross value, £206. Patrons, the Dean and Chapter of Chester. The church was rebuilt in 1887.
