Description
Shotwick Park, formerly extra-parochial, now a parish in Cheshire, 4 1/2 miles NW of Chester. Acreage, 987; population, 8. A royal castle anciently stood here, was inhabited by Henry II. when on his way to Ireland, was visited twice by Edward I., sank to ruin before the time of Henry VIII., and is now represented by a large mound.
