Description
Upwell, a large village and an extensive parish in Cambridgeshire, 6 miles from Wisbech station on the G.E.R., with a post, money order, and telegraph office under Wisbech. Acreage, 7382; population, 1387. A steam tram runs from Upwell to the railway station at Wisbech, conveying both goods and passengers. The parish is on either side of the river Nen, which separates Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich; net value, £760 with residence. Christ Church is a large cruciform building of brick.
