Description
Peasemore, a village and a parish in Berks. The village stands 3 1/2 miles SW by S of East Ilsley, 7 N of Newbury, and 6 E from Hampstead Norris station on the Didcot and Newbury branch of the G.W.R., and has a post office under Newbury ; money order office, Chieveley; telegraph office, Chaddleworth. Acreage of parish, 2049 ; population, 263. The manor belongs to the Archer-Houblon family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Oxford; net value, £530 with residence. The church and spire was rebuilt in 1842, but retains the tower of the previous church built in 1737. The chancel was added in 1865. There is a Primitive Methodist chapel.
