Description
Penlline, Penllyne, or Llanfrynach, a parish in Glamorgan, 3 miles WNW of Cowbridge. It has a post office under Cowbridge; money order and telegraph office, Cowbridge. Acreage, 1962; population, 275. Penlline Castle stands on an eminence, belonged successively to the Turbervilles, the Stradlings, and the Mansels, is now the seat of the Homfray family, and retains some Norman features. Penlline Court is another chief residence. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Llandaff; gross value, £134. Patron, the Earl of Dunraven. The church is ancient. There is a Calvinistic Methodist chapel.
