Description
Caira, Cairau, or Caerau, a village and a parish in Glamorgan, on the Julian Way, near St Fagans station on the G.W.R., 3 1/2 miles W of Cardiff, which is the post town. Acreage of the civil parish, 773 ; population, 187; of the ecclesiastical, 881. An ancient camp of about 12 acres is here, and seems to have been British, though often regarded as Roman. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Llandaff; net value, £130. Patron, the Bishop of Llandaff. The church stands within the camp, and is good.
