Description
Burstwick, a village, a township, and a parish in E. R. Yorkshire. The township is joined with Skeckling, includes part of Ridgmont, lies on the Hull and Withernsea railway, near the Humber, 8 miles ESE of Hull, and has a station on the railway, and a post and money order office under Hull; telegraph office, Hedon. Acreage of the township, 4338; population, 437; of the parish, 700. The parish contains also the townships of Ryhill and Camerton. The living is a discharged vicarage in the diocese of York; net value, c£240 with residence. The church is Later English, and was completely restored in 1893. There are also Wesleyan and Primitive Methodist chapels, and small charities.
