Description
Semington, a chapelry in Steeple Ashton parish, and a civil parish, in Wiltshire, on the Kennet and Avon Canal, 3 1/2 miles NE of Trowbridge, with a post office under Trowbridge; money order and telegraph office, Melksham. Acreage, 1181; population of the civil parish, 422; of the ecclesiastical district, 1310. The living is a curacy, annexed to Steeple Ashton, in the diocese of Salisbury. The church is in the Early English style. There is a Wesleyan chapel; the workhouse for Melksham union is situated in this parish.
