Description
Figheldean or Fittledean, a parish in Wilts, on the river Avon, 4 miles N of Amesbury, and 8 from Porton station on the L. & S.W.R., and has a post office under Salisbury; money order and telegraph office, Netheravon. It includes the hamlet of Ablington. Acreage, 5439 ; population, 472. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Salisbury; net value, £227 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Salisbury. The church is ancient, and was repaired in 1860. There is a Primitive Methodist chapel.
