Chadshunt, a parish in Warwickshire, 1 1/2 mile NE of Kineton. Post town, Kineton, under Warwick. Acreage, 1388; population, 48. The manor belonged early to the monks of Coventry, and passed to the See of Lichfield, and belongs now to the King family. The living, formerly a chapelry annexed to the vicarage of Bishops-Itchington, was formed in 1879, together with the chapelry of Gaydon, into a vicarage in the diocese of Worcester; joint gross value, £87 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Worcester. The church is Early English, consisting of chancel, nave, and western tower, with north chapel, which contains some good stained glass of the 16th century, brought from a convent in Italy by the family of Knight of Barrels, whose arms appear in the north window. An image of St Chad formerly stood in the churchyard, and attracted many pilgrims. The well dedicated to the saint is still to be seen in the adjoining park, with the remains of the bath in which he is said to have baptized his converts, and the waters of which had healing powers.
