Description

Brockley, a parish in Suffolk, 6 1/2 miles SSW of Bury St Edmunds on the G.E.R. It has a post office called Brockley Green under Bury-St-Edmunds; money order office, Hartest; telegraph office, Glemsford. Acreage, 1538; population, 279. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ely; net value, £279 with residence. The church is an ancient structure with a good tower, and contains some monuments of the Sprigge family. There is a Baptist chapel, and there are some charities.
