Description
Diddlebury, or Delbury, a township and a parish in Salop. The township lies on the river Corve, 5 1/2 miles NE of Craven Arms station on the Shrewsbury and Hereford Joint (L. & N.W. and G.W.) railway, and 7 1/2 N of Ludlow, and has a post office under Craven Arms (R.S.O.); money order and telegraph office, Munslow. Acreage, 8690 ; population, 777. The parish includes also the townships of Corfton, Lawton and Little Sutton, Middlehope, Peaton, Great Sutton, Westhope, Broncroft, and Sparchford. Delbury Hall, Sutton Court, Corfton Hall, and Broncroft Castle are the chief residences. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Hereford; net value, £212. Patrons, the Dean and Chapter of Hereford. The church is an ancient edifice. There is a chapel of ease in Westhope township.
