Description
Claverley, a village, a township, and a parish in Salop. The township lies near the boundary with Staffordshire, 6 miles E of Bridgnorth, and has a post and money order office under Bridgnorth; telegraph office, Bridgnorth. The parish contains also the townships of Aston, Beobridge, Broughton,. Dallicott, Farmcott, Gatacre, Heathton, Hopstone, Ludstone, Shipley, Sutton, and Woundale. Acreage, 8185 ; population of the civil parish, 1552 ; of the ecclesiastical, 1498. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Hereford; gross value,. c£300 with residence. The church is ancient, and contains a Norman font and a monument of 1558 to Sir Robert Brooke, lord chief-justice.
