Ayston, a parish in Rutland, 1 mile NNW of Uppingham, and 2 1/2 miles SSW of Manton station on the M.R. Post town, Uppingham, which is the money order and telegraph office. Acreage, 904; population 94. Ayston Hall is a chief residence, and the seat of the Fludyer family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough; gross value, £216. The church is an edifice of stone in the Perpendicular style.
